Everyone would like to have a healthy lifestyle.  Running could be a great starting point to help you get closer to that lifestyle.  It helps relieve stress, helps with your immune system, helps your functions of lungs, gets your heart pumping and makes you live longer.  ealth.  In that sense, can running help your health?  Where do some people look for motivation to run?  How does it help in increasing your metabolism? Would you be willing to challenge yourself to do a 5K race? Let’s see what some of the NYC marathoners had to say about their accomplishments.

Bobby Newman, a NYC marathoner from the running club ‘Quicksilvers Striders’ said, “Running keeps me healthy and provides a real sense of accomplishment. I want to be around for my son for years to come, and this will help. A simple routine, and consistency in your running, can help you with your healthy lifestyle.”

People who set goals are more likely to reach them.  Motivation to keep going in running comes in different forms and it varies with individuals.

Jenn Cook Ebert, a NYC marathoner from the running club ‘Quicksilvers’ Striders stated, “My driving force is my husband who is my #1 supporter and fan. I continue to do it for the pure fact that I love it” and Bobby Newman added, “I am continually testing myself, and remembering my dad who was a marathoner back in the 1970s.  Find your motivation and continue to persist towards your goals.”

According to Livestong, during aerobic activity such as running, your metabolism increases to sustain your energy while you run. It works by burning the calories you consume and tapping into your fat storage to create energy.  Running is a great source to burn calories and help with weight loss as well.

Running has great beneficial factors, Jenn Cook Ebert said that it helps her feel stronger, younger, have more stamina, relieves her stress and makes her happy.  When asked about her 26.2-mile finish she said “for me to get to any finish is the desire and the will to meet a time goal. For a year I was injured (last year), it was just to know that my injury did not defeat me”.

Finally, our challenge to you is to find a 5K race and finish it.  For people living in the NYC area NYRR.ORG is a great running website to find races.  For others there are always local races around especially right around the thanksgiving season.  You may find a turkey trot race and feel accomplished as you finish the crossing line.
